“Our Father” - Our Relationship with God

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for promising to be to me everything I need (Colossians 2:10).

With the Psalmist, I have assurance that even if my father and mother forsake me, you Lord will take me in (Psalm 27:10).

As my Father, you are my provider, my defender, my sustainer, my comforter, my redeemer, my guide, my God, and the Rock of my salvation (Psalm 89:26).

You are Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end (Revelation 22:13).

You are our everlasting Redeemer; that is your name (Isaiah 63:16).

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from you, the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change (James 1:17).

May I understand, value, appreciate, and rejoice more each day that you are all I need!

I worship you Lord Jesus, for you are the one Isaiah spoke of when he said, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

You are the Holy One of God (Mark 1:24) and the Son of the Most High (Luke 1:32).

You are the Lamb of God (John 1:29) and the chief Shepherd of your sheep (1 Peter 5:4).

You are the Author of life (Acts 3:15) and the founder and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

You are the Lord God Almighty (Revelation 15:3), the King of kings, and the Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16).

You are the light of the world (John 8:12) and the bright morning star (Revelation 22:16).

Thank you for being the same, yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

You are all I need!

You promise, Lord Jesus, that if I abide in you, and you in me, I will bear much fruit; for apart from you, I can do nothing (John 15:5).

May you be glorified today in my life, my thoughts, my attitudes, and my actions.

Blessed Holy Spirit, grant that I will not rebel against your leadership or grieve you in any way today (Isaiah 63:10).

You said, “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption” (Ephesians 4:30).

I thank you, Holy Spirit, that you are my Helper and my teacher (John 14:26).

You are the Spirit of truth (John 14:17). Help me to love the truth and always speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).

You are “the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord” (Isaiah 11:2).

You bring glory to Jesus by taking what belongs to Christ and declaring it to me (John 16:14).

“In Heaven” - God’s Royalty

“Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty, covering yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent” (Psalm 104:1-2).

You lay the beams of your chambers on the waters; you make the clouds your chariot; you ride on the wings of the wind (Psalm 104:3).

I praise you, Father, that though you are high and lifted up (Isaiah 57:15), you choose to have a personal relationship with me. You are always with me. “You hold my right hand” (Psalm 73:23).

“You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you” (Psalm 73:24-25).

“Hallowed Be Your Name” - God’s Reputation

You tell us, “Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, for I am the Lord your God” (Leviticus 20:7).

May people see your holiness shining forth from my life. You have said to me, “as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all of your conduct” (1 Peter 1:15).

“Your Kingdom Come” - God’s Reign

You have taught us, O Lord, to be waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13).

You promise those who love you and walk in your truth that when Jesus shall appear we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is (1 John 3:2). Then you exhort, “Everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure” (1 John 3:3).

Help me to be pure in my thoughts, words, and motives today.

Your kingdom is a spiritual kingdom in the hearts of men and women who are born again (Luke 17:21). May your kingdom grow as more and more as people come to know you as their Lord and Savior.

Bless, strengthen, and encourage all the evangelists who labor for you throughout the world (Colossians 4:3).

I pray for... (names of people who are not saved)... to be saved.

Oh God, as long as they are happy in sin, they will not sense their need for you. Therefore, cause the pleasures of sin to turn to gravel in their mouths (Proverbs 20:17). Hedge them in to your will and your way (Hosea 2:6).

May the day of their salvation be soon.

“Your Will Be Done, on Earth as It Is in Heaven” - God’s Rule

You said that I am to examine everything carefully and to hold fast only to that which is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21).

I am to abstain from every form of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22).

I am to allow you, God of peace, to sanctify me entirely (completely, every part) and to preserve my whole spirit and soul and body blameless until the coming of my Lord Jesus Christ. You call me to be entirely sanctified, and you are faithful; you will entirely sanctify me if I cooperate with you (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24). May the entirely sanctified life be mine each day as I remain fully surrendered to your will.

“Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread” - God’s Resources for Us

Dear Father, Colossians 3:1 says, “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” I am to set my mind on things that are above, not on things that are on earth (Colossians 3:2). Help me to do this.

Father, please forgive me for ever murmuring or complaining about my circumstances. You have been better to me than I deserve.

I thank you for your promise to supply every one of my needs according to your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).

I thank you for the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health with which you have blessed me.

I pray for… (whatever you feel you need that is within God’s will for you).

“And Forgive Us Our Debts, as We Also Have Forgiven Our Debtors” - Reconciliation with God

Father, James 3:2 reminds me, “We all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.”

My tongue is a little member of my body, but it can do enormous damage. You said the tongue is like a fire (James 3:5-6). Help me not to use my tongue in harmful ways or ways that displease you.

You tell us, “Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” (James 5:16).

Father, I confess my need to have a greater sensitivity toward other people and a greater ability to express Christ’s love to them.

I thank you, Father, that you are good, and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you (Psalm 86:5). Thank you for forgiving my sin.

I join with the Psalmist and proclaim, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s” (Psalm 103:1-5).

“And Lead Us Not into Temptation, but Deliver Us from Evil” - God’s Protection

Lord, help me to trust in you with all my heart and stop leaning on my own understanding. Help me in all my ways to know you (your mind—how you think about each situation I face) and to walk in your ways today. You promised that if I do this, you will make my paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).

May I have the wisdom that is from above: wisdom that is first pure, then peaceable, gentle (considerate), open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere (James 3:17).

You said, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). Grant that my thoughts and motives be pure today in your sight.

I am to put on the helmet of salvation (Ephesians 6:17). May all my thoughts be taken captive to obey Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Help me to quickly detect the thoughts the enemy places in my mind and to flee to the blood of Jesus for protection (Revelation 12:11).

Grant that I learn how to use the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17). May I store up your word in my heart so that I will not sin against you (Psalm 119:11).

“For Yours Is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory, Forever” - Praise to God

Remember: Focus on the position of God, his power, his majesty, and his glory. Encourage your heart with praise.

“Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all” (1 Chronicles 29:11).

“You bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield” (Psalm 5:12).

Lord, I have set you always before me; because you are at my right hand, I shall not be shaken (Psalm 16:8).

You have heard my plea; you accept my prayer (Psalm 6:9).

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21).

In the name of Jesus I pray this, Amen.
